Rex may be in his senior years, but don’t let that fool you – this boy still has plenty of character and charm to go around. Rex is searching for a calm home where he can finally settle down and enjoy his golden years with the dignity and comfort he deserves. Once a stray, Rex is now ready to enjoy the stability of a loving home, ideally with someone who can be around often and gradually build up the time he is left alone. Though he can be vocal in his kennel, especially around other dogs, he does settle well in quiet environments and has shown he can relax in a home-like setting.
Rex would thrive as a companion dog, ideally for someone who enjoys peaceful days and has a secure garden where he can potter around and play to his heart’s content. He can’t live with other dogs or have visiting dogs, and due to his high reactivity, he’ll need to be muzzled on walks and walked only in quiet areas. He isn’t suitable to be off-lead and prefers to avoid busy or dog-heavy environments. Despite his challenges, Rex is very responsive to his name, takes treats gently, and enjoys carrying his favourite rubber ball around – he’ll even toss it at your feet for a quick game of fetch!
Affectionate and friendly, Rex enjoys fuss and attention but is also happy to entertain himself when you're busy. He’s tolerant of handling and grooming in short bursts, though he prefers not to have his legs or feet touched. Rex is housetraining in progress and will need patience and understanding as he learns the ropes of home life again. With a little time and a lot of love, Rex has the potential to be a wonderfully loyal companion.
If you’re looking for a quieter life and a dog to share it with, Rex could be the perfect match. He may come with a few quirks, but his devotion and personality more than make up for them. A secure garden, a comfy bed, and someone to share his ball with – that’s all Rex is asking for.
