Pecan is a bright, affectionate youngster with bags of potential and a whole lot of love to give. Found as a stray and later cared for in foster, he’s quickly shown everyone just how clever, cuddly, and eager-to-please he is. He forms strong bonds with his people and loves nothing more than being close by—whether he’s snoozing on a comfy bed or working on an enrichment toy.
This sweet boy picked up housetraining within a couple of days, travels beautifully in the car, and already has “sit” mastered. He’s playful, adores soft toys, and greets both humans and dogs with a happy wiggle and a waggy tail. Like many pups his age, he can sometimes get a little overexcited, and when he does, he may mouth in play. He responds very well to gentle redirection and can be easily distracted with a toy—soft teddies are his favourite! Because of this, Pecan is looking for an adult-only home with adopters who are confident guiding a young, enthusiastic dog.
Pecan is just coming out of a period of restricted exercise following a successful leg surgery earlier in his stay. He’s now back to normal activity but will need his new family to build up his exercise gradually as he grows. He may show the occasional mild limp or some future stiffness, so keeping an eye on this during routine vet checks will be important.
Because he bonds deeply, Pecan will need alone time to be introduced slowly, along with continued positive training to help him mature into the confident, well-rounded dog he’s destined to be. With the right support, he’ll make a fantastic companion for an active, loving home.
