Abbie

Meet Abbie, our striking young Malinois, full of boundless energy, intelligence and potential. This young girl is eager to find a loving and committed home where she can continue her training to thrive and develop into an exceptional companion. Abbie is everything you expect from a Malinois—athletic, quick to learn, and deeply loyal. She forms strong bonds with her main carers, and thrives under confident, calm handling. Though she’s still in her teenage phase, Abbie is keen to please and highly trainable. Her intelligence means she can read even the smallest of cues and changes in body language, so she’s always alert and ready to engage. Adopters must have the time and flexibility to help Abbie settle and gradually build up the time she can be left alone. She has all the foundations to become an incredibly rewarding companion in the right environment. One of Abbies favourite pastimes is playing with toys! She enjoys playing with either soft toys or running after a tennis ball! Abbie would not be suited for an urban environment; she needs access to quieter walking areas where she can explore and stay mentally stimulated. She has not had much socialization with other dogs, so her new family will need to be patient and support her in this area, working on building positive interactions with other dogs. Experience with Malinois or similar working breeds would be ideal—or a genuine willingness to do the research and seek support. While she’s not best suited to first-time dog owners, those with experience through volunteering or work with dogs could be a great fit. True to her breed, she’s not just a pet—she’s a partner. Abbie has undergone a dedicated rehabilitation journey with us at BCDH, and she’s now ready to leap into her next chapter with a home that understands what makes her special.
