More and more, cats and dogs come to us not only with physical injuries, but with complex behaviour needs as well. To get them on the journey to adoption, our behavioural work is vital.
They require time, patience, and specialist support to help them feel safe, rebuild trust, and grow in confidence. We offer consistent, compassionate care from the moment they arrive to the day they find their forever home.

Cowering in her crate, it took 3 weeks before Nana would come out when our carers were around. Our behaviour team would sit in her kennel at meal times, just talking gently or working quietly, so she would get used to their presence and understand they weren't going to hurt her. Everything was at her pace.
A month later, and she's made it to a paddock and is asking for a cuddle from Kirsty - her main carer on the behavour team. Her next challenge is to go for a walk. Luckily we know some other dogs who would be relaxed around her, and give her a little confidence boost. It's a joy that one rescue dog can help another!
Nana also needed a palate operation to help her breathe more easily - so our vets also made time to get to know her, so she would be comfortable in the vet suite for her operation and check ups. At the same time, we're introducing her to other people, so she can cope when potential adopters visit. It's a team effort to bring her along her adoption journey - 9 months later and she is ready and now looking for her forever home.
