Meet Beth, a sensitive and endearing little Chihuahua who is looking for a calm, patient home where she can settle at her own pace. She’s a worried girl in her kennel environment, but once we provided her with a crate she relaxed noticeably, it quickly became her safe space, and she’ll need a similar setup in her new home to help her feel secure. She sleeps happily in her crate and finds real comfort in having a cosy hideaway of her own.
Whilst briefly in a foster home, she can become confident in a familiar environment and form a strong bond with her people. She struggled to settle at first, all signs of a young dog who needs structure and reassurance. Further guidance for house training is needed, her new family will need to commit to positive, consistent training and plenty of gentle encouragement.
Beth find some hands-on interaction worrying until trust has been formed, so she is looking for an adults-only home (with some flexibility for the right match). A slow, hands-off approach works wonderfully for her, once she knows you, she blossoms. Chicken was a big favourite when building trust in foster, and once bonded she would happily climb into laps for fuss and affection.
She’s playful, loves her soft toys, and shows a sweet, affectionate side once her confidence grows. She’s under-socialised with dogs, so she’ll need ongoing support to build her skills and feel safe in the world.
With time, understanding, and the right support, Beth will make a charming little companion. She has so much love to give once her trust is earned — she just needs someone willing to go at her pace and help her find her confidence.
More details about Beth
Due to her age, we are looking to have her rehomed as soon as possible so please do get in touch if you feel you could offer Beth a home and would be available to adopt around the 22nd December. If you are registered, give us a call on 01225 787331. If you are not registered, you are welcome to apply but please bear in mind that we reserve the right to rehome her to the most suitable match as quickly as possible to reduce her stay in the kennel.
Crates can be great to treat some behaviour issues and also as a nice place for your dog to retreat to.

Nervous dogs
There are lots of different reasons that your dog might be nervous of new people, or in new situations - we say don’t worry about why but focus on spotting the signs and taking action.
