Rudi is a lively, intelligent boy who clearly enjoys the comforts of a home environment and forms strong bonds with the people he trusts. He can be vocal when first settling, especially in busy or noisy environments, but relaxes well once things are calm and familiar. Rudi enjoys enrichment, loves his toys (particularly soft ones), and is affectionate on his own terms – when he wants attention, he’ll happily lean into you or sprawl across your lap. He is clean in indoor spaces and toilets reliably on lead, though he may need some gentle guidance with house training in a new home. While he can be left for short periods, this will need to be built up gradually as he can become unsettled at first.
Out and about, Rudi will need an experienced and confident home committed to ongoing training and management. He is strong on the lead, reactive to people and dogs, and has a high prey drive, so walks should be in quieter locations where he can feel safe and supported. Rudi is currently muzzle training and will need to wear a muzzle on walks around people and dogs, as well as continue positive behaviour work. He responds to his name and can focus with the right support, but public spaces such as cafés or pubs would not be suitable for him. A secure garden would be ideal to give him safe off-lead time, though alternative secure outlets such as private fields or long-line exercise could work for the right home.
Rudi is looking for a home where he can be the only pet, with no visiting dogs and no cats due to his prey drive. He is under-socialised with dogs and finds interactions particularly difficult with male dogs, so careful management is essential. While he can be wary of people when out, he is much more relaxed meeting new people indoors and enjoys fuss once comfortable. Rudi will thrive with patient, understanding adopters who can offer consistency, structure, and plenty of positive outlets for his playful nature, helping him feel secure and supported as he continues to build confidence in the world around him.
