Frost

Frost is a gentle, sensitive little lady who has come such a long way since being bought into our care. Life is still very new and often overwhelming for her, but with kindness, patience, and a calm, stable routine, she is beginning to blossom into a loving, affectionate companion. Once she has built trust, she is deeply devoted and thrives on close companionship — happily following her person from room to room, curling up by their feet, or snuggling on a warm lap. She’s best suited to a quiet, adult-only home, ideally with no visiting children or only very calm, older teenagers on rare occasions. Visitors should not be expected to interact with her, and she must always have access to a secure “safe space” such as a separate room or covered crate to retreat to when she feels overwhelmed. Sudden noise or movement can frighten her easily, and when startled, Frost may attempt to flee or hide in risky places, so a secure and understanding environment is vital for her wellbeing. Frost is not currently lead-walked, and although she tolerates being carried, this must be done with care due to her skittish nature. With time, she may develop the confidence to explore the outside world on quiet walks, but this cannot be guaranteed. She is not house-trained, and adopters must be ready to support her patiently through ongoing toilet training setbacks, especially during periods of stress or transition. She may benefit from the companionship of another small, calm dog, though this is not essential, and she could potentially live with a confident cat. In the right environment — one filled with patience, predictability, and gentle guidance — Frost will reward her adopter with unwavering loyalty and quiet joy. Her ideal home will be one that embraces her vulnerabilities and sees the sweet, affectionate soul behind her initial fearfulness. A very important note: Frost is very fearful of men and, despite lots of time and patience, has not been able to build trust with them. When she feels unsafe, her fear can lead her to hide, try to escape, or react defensively. To help her feel secure and give her the best chance to thrive, Frost will need a calm, female-only household. We know this may limit her options, but it is the kindest and safest choice for her emotional wellbeing. Thank you for understanding and supporting her needs.
