Vixen

Cats, Rescue, RSPCA

Vixen’s second chance is a world away from where she started.

Rescued from a multi-pet household by an RSPCA Inspector, Vixen was found in a cardboard box nursing her 5 kittens (an adorable bunch of ginger and tortie fluffs). The whole group was full of fleas and cat flu.

We helped raise her kittens whilst treating her flea allergy and alopecia (you can see how thin her fur is in the photo above). But once in a foster home, we saw that her upbringing casted a shadow.

Normally a very sweet and gentle girl, she could be frantic around food if there were other cats about, even breaking into food containers and stealing from counters during food prep. She must have had to scrabble for food and couldn’t trust that she would have regular meals.

She has been adopted now as an only-cat to have her own space, and a regular food routine to stem her anxiety.

Now called Nessa, she is relaxing into her new life and loving future  “Nessa has settled in really well. She is very sociable greets all visitors for fuss.”
