How to make friends with a nervous cat
A guide to some socialisation and befriending a cat that is hiding and wary
Cats, Cat behaviour
Meet Emerald, a beautiful, timid girl who’s still finding her feet after a rough start to life. She came to us as a stray, scared and unsure, and she’s spent most of her time since then keeping herself hidden away. Emerald is easily spooked by loud noises and sudden movement, so she’s hoping to find a calm, peaceful home where she can take things at her own pace and learn that she’s finally safe. She’s not ready for cuddles or playtime just yet, but with time, patience, and gentle understanding, Emerald has the potential to grow in confidence. She’ll need an adult-only home with no other pets and safe access to the outdoors once she’s settled. Her adopters will need to take things slowly and allow her to build trust on her terms. Emerald might be shy now, but with the right person, she could truly shine.
