Nervous cats
Here's our advice for understanding and bonding with a nervous cat
Cats, Cat behaviour
Meet Alan, a gentle soul looking for a very special home where he can feel safe and understood. Life has been a little overwhelming for Alan, and he’s a worried boy who will need plenty of time, patience, and kindness to settle into his new surroundings.
Alan is happiest when he has a cosy place to hide, whether that’s a snug hidey bed or a quiet nook in a cat tower. These safe spaces help him feel secure, especially when things around him feel unfamiliar. When someone enters his space, he may give a little meow to let you know he’s there, but he prefers to stay tucked away where he feels protected.
At the moment, Alan finds people quite scary and tends not to come out during the day. Because of this, he’s looking for a calm, quiet home with minimal noise and low foot traffic, somewhere he can build his confidence at his own pace. He will require a safe enclosed room to help him settle in until happy in his new surroundings and comfortable to explore more.
Alan would suit an experienced and compassionate owner who understands that trust takes time. With patience and a peaceful environment, Alan has the potential to slowly come out of his shell and show his true self.
If you have a gentle home and a big heart for a shy cat who just needs a chance, Alan could be the perfect companion for you.
