Teenage tails need you!

Growing up is hard for pets too

Just like human teens, teenage dogs and cats are full of energy, curiosity, and big emotions. Their bodies are changing, their brains are developing, and every day brings something new to learn. But without a safe, stable home, this stage of life can quickly become overwhelming.

Many young animals who arrive in our care are frightened, confused, or unsure how to behave.

They’re not "naughty" or "difficult". They’re simply teenagers trying to make sense of a world that suddenly feels far too big.

That’s why your support matters so much. Right now, young dogs and cats are waiting in our kennels and cattery for the patience, guidance, and kindness they need to thrive.

Take Brian, who arrived in the middle of his teenage phase – full of energy and far stronger than he realised. His owner loved him dearly, but walks had become too difficult to manage. Like many young dogs, Brian didn’t mean to overwhelm. He just needed help learning how to channel all that enthusiasm.

At first, Brian was unsure around new people and would back away when worried. But with routine, understanding and expert support, his true personality began to shine.

He became known for trying to be a lap dog despite his size, his love of tennis balls, and sniffing absolutely everything.

Brian spent 579 days with us. Today, Brian has a home of his own. But more teenage pets are still waiting for their chance.

Please, will you give a gift today to help a teenager like Brian grow up safely and confidently?

Bailey came to us as a teenage cat bursting with youthful energy but unsure how to cope with it all. His owner could no longer manage his behaviour, and without support, Bailey became overwhelmed during play, sometimes nipping when he didn’t know how else to respond.

But beneath the boisterous behaviour was a youngster wanting connection. With care and enrichment, Bailey’s affectionate, playful nature began to shine through and he has now been adopted into a loving home.

Teenagers don’t stay teenagers forever, but what they learn, and how they’re supported now, can shape the rest of their lives.

When you give today, you can help a young animal feel safe, understood, and ready for a brighter future.

Will you support helps teenage cats and dogs get the understanding and second chance they need?

Every donation helps a young animal take their first steps toward a brighter future.

Because sometimes, all a teenager really needs is someone who believes in them.

Thank you.

Donations will go towards all areas of Bath Cats and Dogs Home's work and help care for animals where the need is greatest.
