Like the precious gem she’s named after, Opal is full of charm, personality, and a little sparkle of sass. Found as a stray, she’s proven herself to be friendly and affectionate, though she likes her fuss in short, sweet bursts. Opal loves attention around her head and cheeks, and may give a gentle nip when she’s had enough – nothing nasty, just her way of setting boundaries. She enjoys soft toys (especially her favourite mouse) and relaxing in high-up spots, with her beloved bamboo tunnel being a firm favourite in the cattery. Though she isn’t a classic lap cat, she may hop up for a brief cuddle before continuing her exploration.
Opal would be happy with some alone time during the day, but would appreciate a home where she’s not left for too long. As she’s used to life outdoors, she would enjoy safe, supervised access outside, though she cannot use a cat flap and should be introduced to new spaces slowly. Opal is likely in the early stages of kidney disease (CKD), but is currently doing well and enjoying life and would be more than happy to discuss further. If you’re looking for a beautiful companion with a bit of sparkle and independence, Opal could be the gem your home is missing.
