Loki is a clever, lively Border Collie who’s ready to trick his way into your heart. As a stray, he’s still learning the ropes of home life and can be a little unsettled at first, but give him time and this little god of mischief soon begins to relax and show his affectionate side. Loki enjoys company on his own terms, happily settling on the sofa next to his carers and accepting gentle fuss when he’s ready. He’ll need guidance with house training and would benefit from a secure garden to help him build confidence, routine, and enjoy safe off-lead time while he figures out this whole “home life” thing.
True to his name, Loki forms strong bonds and doesn’t love being left alone just yet — any time apart will need to be built up gradually. He’s best suited to an active home who can help him channel his energy in positive ways. Loki is curious about people and keen to say hello on walks, sometimes a little too keen, so calm introductions and a visitor routine will help keep his mischief on the right side of charming. He’s food-motivated, polite around human food, and already has some basic training — especially when high-value treats are involved (a true trickster, after all).
When out adventuring, Loki prefers quieter locations where space can be created. He walks on a harness and benefits from a longer or bungee lead to ease lead frustration — he’s strong for his size but very manageable. Loki can’t live with another dog or have visiting dogs, as dog interactions make him feel worried, though he may build confidence walking alongside very calm, suitable dogs and could have a few select friends. No cats, please — his prey drive is very much part of his inner trickster. At home, he loves toys (soft ones are his favourite), enjoys a good game of tug, and settles quickly after play. With patience, structure, and a sense of humour, Loki will reward his forever family with loyalty, brains, and just the right amount of mischief.
