Some cats are looking for a warm and loving home with lots going on where they can get lots of cuddles and love. Duke is not one of those cats. He would like a home in which he can do his own thing, he can be his own boss, free to come and go as he pleases (via cat flap, naturally), enjoy the outdoors, and return at his leisure to find a reliably served breakfast and dinner waiting for him. Room service is appreciated.
We know cats like Duke are not what everyone typically thinks of when they want to bring a feline friend into their home - but hear us out. Working from home? Duke will not interrupt your Zoom calls by parading across the keyboard. Value your sleep? He won’t yowl outside your bedroom door at 4am. Fond of your footwear? Duke has no interest in leaving mysterious “gifts” in your shoes. You’re welcome.
Duke will be a great companion for anyone who wants a cat to have someone else around, but doesn't want a cat who will be demanding their attention all day. He has started to make small progress in his foster home, and will now accept treats offered to him - which is his version of a heartfelt hug. He doesn’t need (or particularly want) lots of social interaction to feel content, making him wonderfully low-maintenance. Provide fresh water, good food, a clean litter tray, yearly vet checks, and steady access to the great outdoors, and Duke will reward you with dignified companionship, occasional acceptance of snacks, and the kind of cool, aloof charisma money simply can’t buy.
More details about Duke
While we suspect that Duke will continue to not want social interaction in the home, it is possible he will become more affectionate in time. Adopters should be aware that he may become clingy and demanding in time, but we do not know if or when this will happen.
