Bryn

Beautiful Bryn has been slowly opening up to us while he’s been in our care, and we are continuing to learn more about him. In the cattery, Bryn was quite shut down and worried, but he is now enjoying the comforts of a foster home, and we’ve all been following his progress with anticipation, as we get to see him slowly making himself at home.
We are not sure if Bryn will ever be an affectionate cat, but he has shown that he is comfortable around others. However, he needs to be able to have full control of when he interacts with people, so Bryn is looking for an understanding, patient and quiet home who is excited to get to know him for who he is now, and who he may become as he gets to know you. A room to call his own for as long as needed is a must, to allow slow introduction to the rest of the home to prevent him feeling overwhelmed. Once he is comfortable, we think that Bryn would prefer to have constant access outside through a cat flap, so that he can come and go as he pleases.
Bryn has now been making huge steps with his little paws with his confidence. He has ventured out of his safe space and is becoming more and more comfortable settling next to the fosterers in the day. Chicken is the way to his heart and he has struck up a budding relationship for the Male fosterer and is more confident around them accepting chicken and plenty of praise. This is a major milestone for Bryn and his habits and routine are now involving humans much more which is great steps in the right direction! Bryn will be a rewarding companion, especially once he shows his playful side, as well as demonstrating his puzzle-solving skills, having mastered every puzzle-feeder we’ve given him!
Foster update: “In the three months he’s been on foster he’s gone from completely hiding in his covered bed to now leaving his foster room in the early evenings to join us in the sitting room where he finds treats. If we’re sat quietly on the sofa watching tv he’ll sometimes settle on the floor in there with us, but as soon as either of us moves he’ll run back into his room. He’s very food motivated and will eat treats in front of me which he never used to do”.

More details about Bryn

Due to his nervous nature, Bryn will need to start out in an enclosed room of his own where he can gradually build his confidence before exploring the rest of his new home. This has proved key in helping his confidence shine through in foster! Bryn could also suited a 'Lodger' cat home, to have the warmth and security for mealtimes in the home and free access to remain outdoors as much as he pleases. To stop Bryn wandering back to his old home, he cannot be rehomed near parts of Bath. He also has no road sense so cannot be rehomed near any busy roads.
