Relief Assistant Shop Manager (zero hours)

About us

Bath Cats and Dogs Home is a busy rehoming centre, taking in around 800 pets every year. When you choose a career with us, you'll witness firsthand the remarkable impact you can have on an animal's life every day.

 

The role

You’ll be supporting the Shop Manager in running the shop successfully when support is needed across our retail portfolio.
•    Maintaining a high standard of shop presentation using creative visual merchandising.
•    Ensuring that donations are sorted, prepared and priced in accordance with Bath Cats & Dogs Home Trading procedures.
•    To support the Shop Manager in the motivation and organisation of the shop volunteer team.
•    Maintain a welcoming and helpful environment for both customers and supporters by providing excellent customer service.
 

About you

The details

Salary: £22,173.60 FTE (£11.37 per hour)
Location: Flexible across our retail portfolio: Bath, Frome, Trowbridge and Bradford on Avon. Reasonable travel expenses paid.
Contract: 0 Hours Contract
Hours: As required and  flexible to future post holders’ requirements

Bath Cats and Dogs Home is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Charity Shop Manager to lead our soon to be open vibrant and community-led Bath Shop. If you're passionate about championing animal welfare, promoting sustainable shopping, and driving a circular economy while empowering volunteers, this role is tailor-made for you!

Bath Cats and Dogs Home has been a beacon of hope for our four-legged friends in the Bath and surrounding areas for over 80 years. Our mission is to create a world where every cat and dog can enjoy a loving home. Joining our team means becoming part of a passionate community dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of these animals.

 

The role

As the Charity Shop Manager at our bustling Moorland Road Shop, you'll be the driving force behind our mission's success. You'll lead a talented team, create vibrant displays, and manage daily operations. Your enthusiasm for sustainable shopping will inspire both customers and volunteers. Physical activity is part of the job, as you'll be hands-on in processing stock and creating impactful shop layouts. This can be a full time or part time position (5 or 4 days per week), depending on the requirements of the future post holder.

 

Key responsibilities

Fundraising Dynamo: Drive sales and initiatives to raise crucial funds for the care, and medical needs of cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes.

Volunteer & Colleague Empowerment: Lead, train, and motivate volunteers & team members to be exceptional ambassadors of our cause, ensuring a positive and welcoming shop environment.

Community Partnerships Champion: Collaborate with local businesses, organisations, and individuals to strengthen our community ties and promote the well-being of cats and dogs in need.

Sustainable Shopping Advocate: Promote eco-friendly practices, encourage recycling, and foster a circular economy mindset among staff, volunteers, and customers.

 

What you bring

- A passion for animal welfare and a dedication to Bath Cats and Dogs Home's mission.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead a diverse team of volunteers.
- A creative eye for merchandising and creating window displays.
- Strong communication skills to build and nurture community relationships.

The details

Salary: £23,000 FTE  
Location: Bath city centre
Contract: Permanent contract
Hours of work: 37.5 hours pw, 5 days over 7. 30 hours pw, 4 days over 7 considered.
