Take in a temporary lodger (or three!)

Fostering is not a trial to adopt, or an overflow from the kennels and catteries, but it is the need for a home environment for the animal's best welfare at this time. As a fosterer, you will be an amazing part of these animals' journey to a new home.

Our foster program

When we need more foster homes, we advertise on our volunteer page, and this is also where you can start your application to become a fosterer.

If your application is successful, you will have full training and we will match you with a foster animal in need. Although experience of fostering or ownership is desirable, it is not essential. We offer a supportive service and aim to make sure our fosterers feel valued for their help as they make such a difference. For more information, please read our frequently asked questions –

Mum cat and newborn kittens

Fostering a mum cat and kittens is a busy role, but very rewarding.

"Being a part of a dog's rehoming journey is rewarding. In Buttercup's case, we have been able to watch her improve medically, but the best thing has been to see her trust in us grow by the day." Zoe, BCDH fostering volunteer
