Boxes as enrichment

Welfare

You'll probably have lots of boxes and wrapping paper around, don't recycle straight away – use them as an enrichment game for your pet!

Cats, dogs, rabbits and ferrets will love to rummage about for treats or biscuit food amongst the paper. It uses their brains and helps tire them out!

Above is some of our kittens making a fort game from their food box and below is tiny puppy Russell getting stuck in to a big box for maximum cuteness, but any size box will do. Cats particularly love holes cut into the sides to play games.

Russell and the kittens were adopted recently and will be having just as much fun in their new homes this Christmas.

Make sure all sellotape is removed and you monitor the game so they are still enjoying it, and they aren't swallowing anything they shouldn't.
