Meet Clementine, a gentle soul with an affectionate nature, but she’s easily worried and needs a calm, understanding home to truly thrive. She can be timid around new people and environments, so she’s looking for someone who’s happy to give her the time and space she needs to settle at her own pace.
When Clementine first arrived at the cattery, she was very nervous – hiding away and avoiding contact wherever possible. However, during her time in a foster home, she started to come out of her shell. While she’s still a sensitive girl, she has shown that with patience and a quiet environment, she can build trust and form a loving bond. In her foster home, she would often meow to greet her fosterer and come to them for gentle fuss – on her own terms. She likes affection, but needs to be the one to initiate it, and it’s important she’s given breaks during interactions to ensure she remains comfortable.
Initially, she’ll need a calm, enclosed room where she can feel safe and begin to settle. She shouldn’t be given access to the rest of the home until she’s confidently moving around her safe space with her new owner present – moving too quickly can set her progress back.
Once she begins to feel secure, Clementine’s playful side comes out. In her foster home, she enjoyed catnip toys and would occasionally chase a ball or bat at ribbons when encouraged. She didn’t seek out laps to sit on, but she liked to stay close – curling up near her foster carer while they worked. With time, love, and patience, she will make a sweet and loyal companion.
