The Together Project

Our exceptional Together Project provides vital veterinary care for pet owners who are at the risk of homelessness

Working together with local charities and a dedicated volunteer vet team, our Together Project offers free veterinary care to pets of people at risk of homelessnes.

We provide much-needed preventative care - including yearly vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and neutering as well as some emergencies and ongoing care for illnesses.

In 2025, the Together Project treated 80 animals over 12 street clinics or at the rescue centre, including five operations.

“The Together Project gives unconditional support and love and all the good stuff that goes with it. It’s like a family" – Together Project service user

The Bath Cats & Dogs Home Together Project is delivered by voluntary vets and vet nurses from Bath Vets. As well as running the clinics, they take their backpacks and hit the streets, proactively seeking out rough sleepers who haven’t been able to visit the clinic. They are entirely non-judgemental, simply offering support to the homeless pet owners of Bath.

Our Together Project Team have been recognised for their empathy and dedication: as finalists in the Team Collaboration category at the RSPCA Impact Awards 2025, and winners of the Volunteer Team category in 2024.

What we are doing is making sure these animals are as well as possible and providing their owners with the peace of mind that their pets are happy and safe. – Dr Nicola Chouler, Veterinary Surgeon and Together Project volunteer

Supporting the Together Project

We're incredibly grateful to the team at Nationwide's Bath branch for supporting the Together Project through their Colleague Grant. Their generosity is making a real difference, helping people keep the pets they love healthy and by their side during some of life's most difficult circumstances. We're proud to work alongside organisations that share our commitment to supporting local communities.

We're now looking for additional businesses, trusts and community partners to join Nationwide in supporting this life-changing project.

Dr Nicola Chouler, volunteer veterinary surgeon for the Together Project, has warned "The majority of cases we treat are straightforward, but the team has seen an increase in cats and dogs coming in with complex medical problems."

Working together, we could reach more vulnerable pet owners, keep beloved pets with their families, and prevent animals from entering the rescue system unnecessarily.

If your organisation would like to help us protect the special bond between people and their pets, we'd love to hear from you.
