Wag Walk is a mass participation sponsorship event and a challenge event consisting of a walk around the Bath skyline which includes steep hills and uneven surfaces. By signing up to participate in the event you are confirming that you believe you and your party are physically able to complete the walk you select.
Dogs must remain on leads during the walk and by signing up you are confirming responsibility for your dog/s.
Only dogs who are comfortable walking on the lead for several hours and who are happy to be around people, children and other dogs take part.
Please be advised that there may also be livestock on parts of the route.
The handler is responsible for picking up after your dog/s (please bring poo bags with you) and ensuring you keep your dog/s hydrated. There will be water stops on route, however we recommend you bring your own bowl and water
also.
The 5-mile route contains steep hills and small stiles to climb over. Therefore this route is suitable for dogs and people who feel physically fit and confident to walk the 5-miles. The 5-mile route can take up to three hours.
If you or your dog have a medical condition which could be affected by exercise, please obtain your vets and/or doctor’s approval before participation. If you are unsure of whether you and/or your dog are medically fit to take part, please consult your doctor and/or vet.
Animal welfare is a crucial part of this event and very close to all our hearts, so please ensure your dog is not only capable of taking part but will also enjoy their day with us.
You can sign up for this event online.
The entrant forms must be complete, and Bath Cats and Dogs Home reserve the right to contact you for more information if not completed.
All entries must be submitted by Friday 11th September 2026. Any entries made after this time will still be allowed to participate but risk not recieving a goody bag.
We cannot accept entries on the day as walking times need to be confirmed before the event begins.
All dogs must be joined by a human for the Wag Walk but humans do not need to be accompanied by dogs to take part.
Handlers must be over 18 years old. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
The walk will be monitored by our event marshals and walkers are provided with a map. The route is also signposted.
There are several busy roads and it is the walker’s responsibility to cross these safely.
Wear sensible footwear, dress for the weather and take care at all times.
All walkers must bring a mobile phone with them on the day in case of an emergency. We recommend downloading What3Words as this will enable us to pinpoint your location if lost or in an emergency.
First Aid wardens will be based on the event field, and in case of a medical emergency will be sent out to help any walkers on route.
We ask for a minimum donation of £15 per dog, and £5 per dog thereafter, to enter the walks. People would still need to book a ticket, however, this will be free.
