Stray pets – our process

Stray animals are handed into us by dog wardens and members of the public.

We always check for a microchip and call the registered numbers. If this does not work, we add them online to Pets Reunited and Animal Search UK to try and locate an owner.

We hold them for seven days, but if they haven't been claimed after that then they will be signed over to Bath Cats and Dogs Home and be eligible for rehoming.

Will my pet be OK until I can get there?

Stray animals are treated with the same care as our rescue animals. Your pet will have an individual pen or kennel, given food and water and a comfortable bed. Dogs will have time in secure paddocks for play and exercise.

If they need emergency medical care then they will receive it, but otherwise we will not intervene without permission.
