Mack's adoption story

Dogs, Rehome

His adopters tell us what it’s like to live with a big dog

Mack came to us in January last year—an older puppy, thin, timid, and in need of care. With regular meals and kindness, he quickly blossomed and was adopted just a month later.

We’ll let his adopters take it from here…

Why a big dog?

“My partner wanted a small, young dog. I wanted a large, older one. So we compromised - with an enormous puppy!”

Settling in

“Though he’d been a stray, Mack adapted quickly, helped by puppy classes. He’s now a huge, gentle, loyal boy who loves tummy rubs, squeaky toys, and hose sprays on hot days.”

Changing minds

“My mum was wary at first but quickly saw how sweet he is. Now she and my dad love visiting their ‘Granddog’.”

Challenges & surprises

“We worried about grooming, judgment from others, and our brand-new sofa. But grooming became bonding time, Mack charmed the community, and the sofa? Still perfect - turns out big dogs aren’t always destructive!”

Best bits

“Watching him play in the snow is pure joy. And the snuggles - he’s the perfect little or big spoon. He’s incredibly smart, learns fast, and gives me confidence when I’m out alone.”

No regrets

“We can’t imagine life without Mack. Choosing him was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.”
