Terms and Conditions

Who can take part?

The Wag Walk is a mass participation, family friendly event and we anticipate over 250 dogs taking part. Therefore we ask that only friendly and well behaved dogs who will enjoy taking part in the event with other dogs, people and children, sign up. Please be advised that there may also be livestock on parts of the route.

Dogs must remain on leads during the walk and humans are responsible for their dogs at all times. Humans must pick up after their dogs (please bring poo bags with you) and keep their dogs hydrated. There will be water stops on route, however we recommend you bring your own bowl and water also.

Signing up

All doggie entrants must get a human to enter them into the Wag Walk online or complete a paper registration form. All paper forms must be submitted by Monday 27th September 2021. We cannot accept entries on the day.

All dogs must be joined by a human for the Wag Walk. Accompanying humans must be over 18 and responsible for their dog at all times. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

There are two routes to choose from, 2 miles and 5 miles. The 2 mile walk is flat and across grass (which can be uneven in places). It is therefore suitable for vaccinated puppies, older dogs and anyone who can walk a minimum of 2 miles. The 5 mile walk is more challenging with some steep hills and small stiles to climb over. We therefore would recommend this route for dogs and people who feel physically fit and confident to walk the 5 miles.

If you or your dog have a medical condition which could be affected by exercise, please obtain your vets and/or doctor’s approval before participation. If you are unsure of whether you and/or your dog are medically fit to take part, please consult your doctor and/or vet.

On the day

The walk will arranged with covid-safe measures, depending on the restrictions at the time. We are considering staggered start times, and you will be given your start time nearer the day. All walkers are provided with a map and the walk is signposted and with marshalls at key points. There are several busy roads on the route which may not marshalled, therefore it is walker’s responsibility to cross these safely. Humans must wear sensible footwear and take care at all times.

All walkers must bring a mobile phone with them on the day in case of an emergency. First Aid wardens will be based on the event field, and in case of a medical emergency will be sent out to help any walkers on route.

Entry fees and fundraising

The entry fee is £15 per dog plus a small online processing fee. There is no fee for human companions walking with a dog. If you are entering more than one dog it is £15 for the first dog, and £5 thereafter for each dog taking part. The non-refundable entry fee is to cover the cost of administration and resources for the Wag Walk.

To help rescue dogs even more, in order to enter the Wag Walk 2021 you are kindly asked to reach a minimum £50 sponsorship for your walk, using a paper sponsorship form or an online fundraising page, e.g. JustGiving. Every pound raised will make a real difference to a rescue dog’s life.

Signing up without dog: There is a small £5 fee for humans registering for the event without a dog. This is to cover the cost of resources for the Wag Walk.

You and your dog enter the wag walk at your own risk and should not take part unless medically fit to walk the 2 or 5 mile route. If it is unusual for you or your dog to walk this length, we recommend doing some training walks prior to the event, as the distances can be a challenge. While all reasonable action has been taken by Bath Cats and Dogs Home to ensure the safety of participants, Bath Cats and Dogs Home cannot be held accountable for any injury, loss or damage sustained during this event.

Bath Cats and Dogs Home reserve the right to refuse or cancel applications, to alter the date of the event or order and details of the event programme. Please be advised if you are unable to attend the new event date, we are unable to refund your entry fee.
Bath Cats and Dogs Home may take photographs of the event and use them in publicity material including on its website. If you do not want your photograph to be used, please let us know in advance.
