Meet Winston! Although initially nervous of meeting new people, once he gets to know you he won’t leave your side. Any time alone for Winston will need to be built up slowly as he becomes a little worried when left alone. He was housetrained in his last home but might need some guidance in his new home. He also appears to know very few basic commands so will need further basic training going forward.

Winston can be very sweet and affectionate once bonded to his owner. He is finding kennel life challenging as he loves his home comforts!

Being a larger boy, Winston is quite active! He enjoys his walks and does walk nicely when there are no distractions. He has a high prey drive so new owners will need to be alert when on walks as once Winston decides he wants to catch something, he’ll be strong on the lead! As time goes on, he may become more reactive on walks so may need careful management. He likes other dogs and is keen to say hello and make new friends. Winston could live with another quiet dog pending mixes here at Bath Cats and Dog’s Home.

Due to being nervous of new people, Winston would be best suited to a home where there are few visitors coming and going. Having his own quiet spot to go to will also be beneficial for Winston to take himself off for some alone time when he feels like it.

Being rough coated, Winston will need some grooming but is a little unsure of a brush at the moment. It will take him a bit of time to trust his new owner to do this. He’s also unsure of some formal handling but gives good signals when uncomfortable so new owners that can read some body language would be essential.

Winston is sure to make a wonderful companion to the right home. He can live with teenagers and potentially a quiet dog.
