Volunteer with us

Giving your time is a wonderful gift to us. Volunteers have an indispensable role both at the Home assisting staff and representing us in our community.

Each role - from getting stuck into our laundry to being in charge of a collection at an event - is an important part of the charity's work as a whole.

Together with you we can do the best for our animals and the charity.

We strive to recognise the hard work our volunteers do, and ensure that they are valued as part of our team. We have an annual get together plus quarterly email newsletter to keep in touch. As a small thank you, we have arranged for volunteers to have free entry to The American Museum and a 5% discount at our PawStore pet shop and charity shops at Moorland Road and Frome.

Please note that all volunteer roles are for ages 18+ only.
Our younger supporters can help our animals by being a Pounds for Paws fundraiser.

Your guide to applying for volunteer roles

Some of our roles are very popular but we have a limited number of opportunities available, so we ask that you think carefully before applying that you are able commit the required time for the volunteering role.

All volunteers must be aged 18 years and over.

You are only able to apply for roles that are advertised here on our website. We are unable to accept speculative applications.

When you find a role that you are interested in, please read the role description carefully and then fill in and return the application form on that page.

Our Volunteer Co-ordinator works part-time, so please allow two weeks to process your application. We will give you a call for a chat where you can find out more about the role and we can discuss your suitability. Successful applicants will then complete an induction and you will meet the team you will be working with.

You will have a trial of two months, and then will chat with you about whether it is appropriate to make your volunteer role permanent,
