Roxy was very nervous on arrival and she still can be around new people as it takes her while to build up trust in humans. Since being here she has started to come out of herself quite a lot, showing that she can be very affectionate and nice natured once she knows you. You will need to spend lots of time with Roxy here in the Home before you can adopt her, and we will also book in some time for you and Roxy with our in-house behaviourist.
She has a protective nature and gets incredibly stressed at the vets - she has to be muzzled when in there.
She enjoys her walks but is very strong on the lead pulling towards other dogs when out and about but walks quite nicely on a halti and is good off lead. Roxy is generally quite obedient and knows a few basic commands but would benefit from further obedience work and this shouldn’t be a problem especially when treats are given for good behaviour. However she hates being shouted at as she can be nervous and submissive and flinches if you move too quickly, which must be something to do with her past life.
Roxy is a lovely, playful lass that is seeking an active household to have fun. She is good with some other dogs, the bigger the better as she tends to be a bit full-on with them not knowing her own strength when she is playing so she will need further socialization.
Ideally Roxy needs to be homed as the only dog in the household and her relationship with cats is unknown. Roxy would love an adult household where any children in the family are aged 16+, as she can be over-protective of her owners.
