SAM_1220  Sam relaxed!

Sam wants to tell everyone about her new and very exciting life-

‘Val and John took me home on the 1st June after taking me for just one walk before deciding I was the dog for them!
Although called Cindy at the home a new name of Sam was decided on.
Much to my delight I discovered a lovely garden to play in, and lots of fields for walks practically on my new doorstep.
I settled in straight away, although I struggled with all the neighbouring dogs walking past my garden. John and Val had a
talk to the dog behaviourists at the dogs home who gave them some very useful guidelines to help with this behaviour. I am
now improving in leaps and bounds!!!!!!
Then another exciting thing happens – John and Val own a narrowboat. What is this strange thing that travels on an equally
odd thing called water? Off I go for my very first trip. We are on the river Thames heading for Lechlade. On one of my evening strolls I
decide to paddle in the water – help what has happened? Found out I can swim very well when I have to! Have now travelled many miles, and now on the Kennet and Avon canal heading for Bath. Love travelling on the boat, and look forward to when the log-burning stove is lit.
When at home have discovered the settee is much more comfortable than my new bed. As you can see I am really loved and happy.
Thank you to everyone who looked after me at the dogs home, and for finding me such a lovely place to live.’

Thank you for giving Sam such a happy and varied life-

and at B.C.D.H we have plenty more residents who would love the opportunity of being happy and loved as much as Sam clearly is.

Our major fundraising day was a great success, with thousands of visitors helping make it a fun day. We raised £38,500 and also had 30 reserves placed on our animals which is a record. Thank you to all those involved and visitors who made it such a fun day. Here is a small selection of photos – click any photo to see it larger – see if you can spot yourself!

Animals re-homed from 5-14th September

Plus 19 chickens, 11 kittens and a baby rabbit

Many of these had reserves placed on them during our Open Day – our animal zone tent meant that quiet one-to-one meetings were done that day for those serious about adopting. It was the first time we have done this and it was a great success.
